Dr Stephany Steggall has PhD in Australian literature from the University of Queensland. She is the author of several biographies of Australian literary figures including Can I Call you Colin? The Authorised Biography of Colin Thiele, 2004; The Loved and the Lost: the Life of Ivan Southall, 2006 and editor of a collection of children’s letters to Colin Thiele, Yours sincerely, Colin Thiele, 2008. In 2009 Stephany’s biography of poet Bruce Dawe – Bruce Dawe: Life Cycle was published, the first time Dawe’s life has been interpreted in full through his poetry.
In 2014 Status and Sugar – A History of the Australian Society of Authors 1963-2013, a work Stephany was commissioned to write, was published as part of the ASA’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
