Peter Rowland

Peter Rowland is inspired by nature. He worked for the Ornithology and Herpetology departments of the Australian Museum, Sydney for a period spanning 20 years, before setting up his own consulting company and image library. He has travelled widely throughout Australia studying and photographing its wildlife. Peter is the author and co-author of eleven books on Australia’s fauna, and a contributor to many others.

Peter co-authored with Rachel Whitlock, A Naturalist’s Guide to the Butterflies of Australia, published in August 2020, as part of John Beaufoy Publishing’s Naturalist Guide Series. His other John Beaufoy Publishing titles include Reptiles, Mammals (both with Chris Farrell), Dangerous Creatures and Frogs (with Scott Eipper) and Insects (with Rachel Whitlock), and Australia’s Birdwatching Megaspots, also co-authored with Chris Farrell.

Wildlife of the Australian Rainforest  was published by John Beaufoy Publishing in 2021. It is an essential companion for travellers visiting the ‘wild’ places of Australia, with detailed information on over 50 rainforests, including site overview, maps, species accounts, directions, GPS co-ordinates. The book also includes travel and safety tips and over 500 high quality photographs.
