Peter’s book Bowerbirds was published in 2009 in the CSIRO’s Natural History Series. It condenses published knowledge into a format that will suit natural history enthusiasts at any level. While the emphasis is on Australian bowerbirds, the New Guinea species are also included. The book also contains more than fifty illustrations, including colour photographs of each Australian species, their bowers, displays and distributional maps.

Peter’s newest titles, co-authored with Chris Farrell, are A Naturalist’s Guide to the Mammals of Australia and A Naturalist’s Guide to the Reptiles of Australia and published by John Beaufoy Publishing.
