Eliza said: ‘I could not be more thrilled. You can never truly gauge how a manuscript will be taken by other people, and it is incredibly startling and joyful to have had others pick it up and have it resonate. Deepest thanks go to Sally, who has gone above and beyond in every way and who could not have been more wonderful to work with.’

Praise for In the Quiet – ‘A glorious book that will make you cry, guaranteed. But it’s also uplifting and tender. A surprise find.’ Sydney Morning Herald.

‘This sad, gentle story explores love, grief and family; the nature of time and memory; the destructiveness of secrets and the pain of letting go. It’s an impressive debut.’ Bookseller + Publisher.

Aside from writing, Eliza has a Degree in Psychology and English, qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs and postgraduate qualifications in Grief, Loss and Trauma Counselling. Her honours thesis explored bushfire trauma in fiction. Eliza is an accomplished horsewoman and has worked at a Melbourne drug rehabilitation centre with children and families who’ve suffered trauma and substance abuse, using horses in the therapy sessions.

Eliza’s second novel, Ache was published in May 2017.

After the loss, comes the healing. Ache is a tender and moving novel of one family’s struggle to come to terms with the aftermath of a devastating bushfire.

Eliza’s first YA novel, P is for Pearl (HarperCollins) is now available.

Rights Available: Film & television.
