Blair McMillan lives in Christchurch with his wife, Karen, and teenage sons. After graduating with a Bachelor of Laws at Canterbury University in 1992, Blair postponed practising as a lawyer to pursue high performance swim coaching, successfully placing swimmers on the international stage. The postponement turned into a cancellation when he and Karen embarked upon a cultural immersion experience, teaching English in Japanese High Schools, before returning to Christchurch and developing their business. A lifelong involvement with swimming continues at the swim school owned by the couple. Blair is a keen surfer and paddle-boarder, and a golfer whose enthusiasm outweighs his talent.

Here Upon the Tide is a debut Young Adult novel telling the story of two young people rocked by tragic events beyond their control, desperate to find a pathway to a stable future. It is published by Bateman Books and available at all good bookshops.
